Parking & Shuttle Bus Information

Parking Information:

Only GMHG Hangtag Parking is allowed at the Games location (MacRae Meadows on the Mountain) except after 5PM on Friday and Saturday. Please choose one of our Parking lots with shuttle bus service to take you up to the mountain.

Security is provided at all GMHG Parking lots.

No general public parking is available at MacRae Meadows. Parking is reserved for Sponsors, Chieftain Patrons, Highlander Patrons, Clansman Patrons and participants.

Parking for general tickets will be available at Sugar Mountain, Avery County High School, and Linville, Hwy 105. There will be a shuttle bus service taking attendees up to the Meadows on the Mountain. Please see shuttle bus information for locations and times.

Friday - Night Parking

Saturday - Night Parking

General public parking at McRae Meadons on the mountain is available on a first-come first serve basis.

There are special parking privileges for Chieftain patrons but not for Highlander Patrons, Clansman Patrons, or sponsors on Saturday evening.

Tour bus parking & drop-off at MacRae Meadows before 9 am at Gate 1. All parking after 9 am is at the Linville shuttle bus lot (fees apply to ride the shuttle bus.)

Sunday - Day Parking

No general public parking is available at MacRae Meadows.

Parking is reserved for Sponsors, Chieftain Patrons, Highlander Patrons, Clansman Patrons, and participants.

Parking for general tickets will be available in Sugar Mountain, and Linville, Hwy 105. There will be a shuttle bus service taking attendees up to the Meadows on the Mountain.

Shuttle Bus Info

Parking is free for all attendees in our four designated parking lots. From these lots, you can purchase a shuttle bus ticket per person(roundtrip, cash only, $10 ages 13+, $5 ages 5-12) which will take you to the location of the games (MacRae Meadows). There are three shuttle bus lots provided in the Linville area, and one in Sugar Mountain.

Shuttle bus passes are available to purchase at the shuttle lot from the attendants.

Round Trip Ages 13+ $10
Round Trip Ages 5-12 $5
Ages 4 and Under: Free

Grandfather Mountain Highland Games does not set the prices for the shuttle bus service. The prices are set by the groups providing the service.

All proceeds from Linville 
and Newland go to Crossnore
