The Grandfather Mountain Highland Games is full of Scottish cultural experiences that range from Clan tents, Dance competitions, musical expression and more! There is even an entire day dedicated to families! I'm sure you have questions, and we have answers. Please check our FAQs below.
Ticketing FAQs
Tickets can be purchased at the GMHG office in Linville with cash, check, money order or credit card (Master Card, Visa, American Express and Discover).
Tickets can also be purchased during the games at the gates. Special 4-day Advance discounted tickets (For events on MacRae Meadows ONLY!) are available through advance order only.
You may purchase tickets day of on the field. Cash only. 4Day passes must be purchased ahead of time or in the office. Please be advised that you WILL have to shuttle up during day events.
You can use the same email address for each registrant, but be aware that each ticket confirmation will be sent separately to the email address provided for each ticket registration. Also be aware that if you use your email address for someone else in your party they will not be able to access their registration to make changes, find lost tickets, or be updated on important last-minute weather changes if needed. In other words, you will be in charge of communicating all important information to them.
Please note that GMHG will mail out all tickets purchased online before June 1st, 2022 to the physical address listed for each registrant. These tickets will be mailed out a few weeks before the games therefore please be sure that you list the correct physical address. If there is an address change, you will need to contact the gmhg office or modify your registration online.
If you purchase your tickets after June 1st, you will need to pick up your tickets at the GMHG office in Linville, NC.
General FAQs
While we allow service animals, we do not allow pets on the Meadow due to our lease with the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation.
Service Animals ONLY. We follow all ADA guidelines.
GMHG provides golf cart shuttles for those who need it. We do not allow outside ATVs/Golf Carts. We also do not rent ours out for personal use. Should you need to use one for mobility reasons or other, simply locate GMHG personnel, and someone will get to you ASAP.
The closest lodging The Best Western in Banner Elk. If you are interested in a town with more dining options, then Boone may be more to your liking.

We have a variety of vendors (Burgers. Hotdogs. Barbeque. Turkey legs. American Scottish Haggis. Etc), but you are welcome to pack a picnic as well. Alcoholic beverages MUST be consumed discreetly.
Layers are recommended. Prepare for sunshine and rain, as well as varying temps.

In order to help lighten the traffic congestion as folks exit the games we have some tips!
- If you are exiting via Gate 2, please turn right on to 221 South toward Linville.
- If you are exiting via Gate 3, please turn left on to US 221 NORTH toward the Blue Ridge Parkway. Take the Blue Ridge Parkway south, then turn right on to Roseboro Road.
Patron Package FAQs

Please choose Patron Package for your ticket option. You will have the option to choose the Patron package you desire. Upon completion, you will receive an email confirmation. In this email, a link will be provided to register for camping. If you have lost your email confirmation with the Camping registration link, you must call the office to have that email resent to you.
The Chieftain is one of our more popular packages and they are limited. We have no way of determining exactly when they will sell out, but once we hit that number we suspend further sales.
Camping FAQs
You will find most of the information you need on our camping page.Â
You will need to check in at Camping Registration upon arrival.
Do not need a shuttle pass. Camping area is located right on/next to the meadow.
Parking for Camping is in one of two areas, neither directly next to tent. They will give you directions at camping registration upon check-in.
You can leave it on your car if you'd like, but you may not ride it within the Meadow or Campground.
First-come first-serve basis. You will have a spot as per your reservation, but where that spot is depends on when you arrive.
You will not have to pay to access your car.
Personnel will allow you to unload your car as close as possible, however after unloading you must move to parking areas or you will be towed.
We do have power hookups. They are limited and everyone shares. For more details visit the camping page: gmhg.org/camping
These are provided in the campground area. Ask for directions upon check-in.
