The Passing of Queen Elizabeth II

The Grandfather Mountain Highland Games Board of Trustees and Staff wish to add our voices to the millions mourning the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  Elizabeth was the longest serving Monarch of the oldest Monarchy in the world.  She comported herself with a quiet courage and dignity and gave her life to the service of her country, including, of course, Scotland, which she dearly loved.  Our Games was founded in 1956 and Elizabeth was the only Monarch the Grandfather Mountain Games has ever known.  We extend our condolences and best wishes to the Royal family and to the British people.  Rest in Peace, Queen Elizabeth.  You were a credit and an inspiration.

  1. Her choice to die in Scotland is very meaningful and moving for me and I’m sure many Scottish people all over the world feel the same. A wonderful example of dignity and love.
