Songs of ineffable beauty
from the Scottish Highlands and Islands sung in Gaelic will be heard on the Meadows
this year from Donald's Ceilidh Tent. Come along and join in. After each song-session
there will be a brief period when you can learn easy-to-say expressions in the
Gaelic language. The Tent is situated on the East Meadow near the Cairn of the
will be provided in the Mother Tongue - Gaelic.
Translations of all songs will be provided along
with easy-to-read phonetics. Included will be melodies
associated with many of our clans. You will be amazed
at the number of tunes you already know - all of
which were originally Gaelic: Morning has Broken,
Westering Home, Morag of Dunvegan, The Campbells
are Comin', etc..
On Saturday, there will be Gaelic singing followed
by a Gaelic class at 11:40am and there will be Gaelic
singing followed by a Gaelic class at 1:00pm. On
Sunday, there will be Gaelic singing followed by
a Gaelic class at 1:00pm.
